What We Do

Following several months of negotiations, Glasgow based chip designer, West Coast Semi Design Ltd, has secured a strategic partnering deal with Desay Microelectronics Technology Ltd of China, that will create a new Research and Development Centre in Glasgow. John Gough, WCSD’s Managing Director, has confirmed the Centre will deliver best-in-class power management IP and integrated solutions for mobile, industrial and automotive markets. Desay, a £2bn industrial corporation headquartered in Shenzhen, will fully fund the project and John has the green light to build a team of experienced power management professionals to support the requirements of Desay’s group companies in China. Desay’s CEO, Mr Chen Zhong , confirmed that we are delighted to have formed a partnership in Scotland with WCSD and we are looking forward to developing our long-term strategic relationship and building design capability in Glasgow.

We have laboratory facilities for silicon evaluation which allows us to quickly evaluate first silicon samples to ensure on time delivery for our customer. The IP being developed at West Coast Semi Design include: - Low power bandgaps , regulator and power bus control. - Capacitor free LDO. - High power LDO. - Digital control state machine. - Current references and biases. - Adaptive synchronous bidirectional buck-boost for charge and discharge between , for example , VBUS and battery. This IP is used primarily in power pack applications.
